Here's an interesting article that appeared in this week's Palisadian Post on how Pacific Palisades voted in the 2020 general election.

In the Palisades precincts, 87% of registered voters turned out to vote. This bested L.A. County's turnout of 74.6% — high, but lower than turnout in the 2008 Obama–McCain contest.

Time to end the filibuster?

It's a good time to read up on the filibuster and get informed, and if we agree it's a good idea, possibly to take action and pressure Democratic leadership to act. (Watch this space to see if PPDC recommends specific actions.)

George Gascon sweeping reforms

George Gascón, PPDC's endorsed candidate for L.A. District Attorney, is sworn in and immediately announces sweeping reforms. From LAist:

George Gascón took the oath of office Monday as Los Angeles County's 43rd district attorney, announcing a dizzying array of policy changes that include vows to lock up fewer people, end cash bail and seek the early release of thousands of state prison inmates whom he said are unfairly serving overly long sentences.

The new DA also made good on his campaign promises to stop seeking the death penalty, stop charging juveniles as adults, and to review hundreds of police shootings.
