President Trump nominated Judge Brett Kavanaugh to be the next Supreme Court Justice.
America fought back hard.
Even before the sexual assualt accusations bravely testified to by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, PPDC pushed to delay a vote on Kavanaugh, and then to urge Senators to vote NO.
Read our letters here, one or more of which was/were selected to be entered into the Congressional Record.
With solid evidence that Kavanaugh lied under oath about several very serious matters (read more here, here, and here), there was no good argument for elevating him to the Supreme Court.
If you care about ...
... the principle that no one is above the law, and that a President under investigation should not get to select a Justice who will give him a free pass
... womens' rights and reproductive freedom ... GLBTQ equality ... families being torn apart on our borders
... clean, safe air and drinking water and saving a planet under extreme threat
... overturning Citizens United and getting money out of politics ... voting rights and civil rights
... the fact that because of insane gerrymandering, when Democrats get more votes, Republicans can still win more seats in Congress
... workers' rights and protections, and unions' ability to compete with right-wing, big-money donors during elections on behalf of the people, not billionaires and corporations
... innumerable other progressive policies and goals over the next few >decades<, not just four years
... then it was worth taking action to keep Kavanaugh -- and going forward, any other conservatives -- off the court.
Yes, our Senators opposed Kavanaugh,
but they needed to hear from us that merely voting against him wouldn't stop his being approved.

We asked them and other Democrats to do everything possible to delay a vote on a Trump pick until after the November election, just as Republicans denied a vote on President Obama's pick, Merrick Garland (a centrist with Republican support!)
