OCT. 24, 2011 2-5 PM OCCUPY LA CITY HALL Attend and hopefully speak at the LA City Council Budget and Finance Committee during this time so that the 2.6 or 2.7 acres promised as a soccer field or parkland can be salvaged if 4 Korean garment companies develop the rest of the 13-14 acre old South Central Farm site at 41st and Alameda. The hearing is in Room 1010. (The South Central Farmers website has not been updated in regards to this hearing, but the website is www.southcentralfarmers.com
OCT. 25th, 2011 9:30 AM onward Attend / speak at the LA County Board of Supervisors meeting on Temple St. in downtown L.A. to halt the huge Newhall Ranch development in the most sensitive area of the free-flowing Santa Clara River near Santa Clarita. Building housing for 70,000 people including in the Santa Clara River floodplain will result in deteriorating habitat for many species, flooding of many housing units, traffic crunches along the important Hwy. 5 thoroughfare, and water is not available for this project unless they claim water which is being diverted to current residents since a couple wells had to be closed due to a perchlorate plume in the vicinity. Write the Bd. of Supes as well to oppose the Newhall Ranch development. Though not updated for hearing, but see www.scope.org

Roosevelt Dinner Honoring the 2011 Democrats of the Year
Including PPDC's own Susan B. Haskell
for more information:
http://www.lacdp.org/roosevelt/
The LACDP Roosevelt Dinner honoring our 2011 Democrats of the Year will take place Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel by LAX, 6101 W. Century Blvd., Los Angeles. A reception and silent auction start at 6:00 PM and the dinner and awards program begin at 7:00 PM.
At the event we will honor a man and a woman from each Assembly District in LA County as the Democrat of the Year. These grassroots activists will be on the front lines next year as we fight to re-elect President Barack Obama, re-take the House of Representatives, and continue to grow our majorities here in California.
