Special alert:
We always
knew corporate interests and right-wingers would fight back hard
against healthcare reform.
But did we think it would get this
bad?
In light of the disruption
and intimidation at Congress members' recent town hall
events, we want to share with you the following list of upcoming
L.A.-area meetings.
If you care about civil discourse, if you want healthcare reform that
will make people's lives better (rather than enrich insurance
companies, drugmakers and other corporate interests), please plan to
attend one or more of these meetings and stand up for the things you
believe in.
Otherwise we are giving in to the forces
allied against us.
Here's the sad thing: Bringing you this list took a bit of searching.
And what rose to the top of the search engines were not Democratic,
progressive, left-leaning sites.... No, the Republicans
are taking the lead. Let's take it back.

[*Billed as forums on other
topics, but the agenda could certainly change depending on who shows
up. The anti-reform crowd seem to be planning to attend.]
And
keep the pressure on by
calling and demanding true healthcare
reform every day you can find a couple of minutes to pick up the phone.
Contact your Senators and Representatives here.
Keep it simple and polite, speak your mind, and you're done.
Unless you'd like to take some extra time and write letters
to
the editor, spread the word to friends, post your opinions in
online forums. Conservatives are doing this with gusto,
giving them
influence out of proportion to their actual numbers... It's
up to us to even the score.
