Democratic HQ Opens- April 26, 2008

Democratic Office Opens -- Bill Bruns, Palisades Post
     "I'm counting down the days of this administration," said Sen Barbara Boxer (D-California) on Saturday as she helped celebrate the opening of the local Democratic headquarters at 900 Wilshire Blvd. in Santa Monica.
     "Let's stop fighting one another and start working together, because this is our year," Boxer said.
Chair of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, Boxer joined City Councilman Bill Rosendahl, County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky and Assemblywoman Julia Brownley to endorse environmental leader Fran Pavley in her Democratic primary campaign for State Senate.
     Former Assemblywoman Pavley, who also spoke Saturday, is running against Assemblyman Lloyd Levine for the 23rd District seat currently held by Sheila Kuehl, who is termed out. Kuehl reiterated her support for Pavley.
     The Democratic headquarters, supported by a coalition of clubs in Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica and Westchester, will be open seven days a week until the June 3 primary. The managers are Aaron Keshishian and Palisades native Genevieve Cruise. Contact: (818) 624-4282.
     Bob Berke, president of the Palisades club, noted that the headquarters will be used for voter registration, precinct walking and organizing bus caravans to neighboring states during the presidential campaign.
